Integrative Holistic Psychiatry | Founder, Sphosh Health
Dr. Koichi Tanji is a dual-licensed Naturopathic Physician and Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in integrative holistic psychiatry. His clinical model addresses mental health through both physiological and psychological pathways, recognizing that mood, cognition, and emotional regulation are influenced by biology, lifestyle, metabolism, and lived experience.
He treats conditions including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, burnout, insomnia, ADHD, ASD, and complex neuropsychiatric presentations. His approach focuses on identifying underlying contributors such as inflammation, gut– brain signaling, immune function, sleep physiology, hormonal balance, and nutritional status — alongside psychotherapy and psychiatric care.
Dr. Tanji integrates psychotherapy, targeted nutrition, lifestyle interventions, functional medicine strategies, and psychiatric medication management when clinically appropriate. This coordinated model allows mental health care to address both neurobiology and emotional experience within one comprehensive framework.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Tanji serves as an Assistant Professor at Bastyr University and collaborates internationally on integrative mental health initiatives. His work reflects a commitment to scientific rigor, ethical practice, and whole-person psychiatric care.
